2021 4th of July Parade

Blowing Rock Parks and Recreation invites you to participate in the Blowing Rock 4th Of July Parade. This year’s parade is scheduled for Saturday, July 3rd at 10 AM. Parade line up will begin at 8:00 AM. All participants must be lined up by no later than 9:30 AM. This year’s registration deadline is Thursday, July 1st. We are limiting the total number of entries to 100 participants. This limitation has been put in place to provide enough space for each entrant. Please note that registration for the parade is on a first come first serve basis and all forms must be received by July 1st. If you need to cancel your entry, please let us know as soon as possible so that another organization or individual may participate.
Please read over the following rules and regulations for parade entries.
*Entries without signed rules and regulations will not be allowed to participate in the parade.
Rules and Regulation
1. Entrants must observe all applicable rules and regulations and follow instructions from police and parade officials. Vehicles must provide proof of Auto Liability Insurance.
2. No materials may be thrown along the route. Walkers will be permitted to hand candy to spectators.
3. Participants are to maintain forward progress at all times unless they have received prior authorization for performance from the Recreation Department. Those with prior permission will only be allowed to perform in the designated area at the intersection of Sunset and Main Street.
4. If you are a performer and have music for a musical performance (i.e. Dance Group, Cloggers, Cheer Groups) you will need to submit your music to the Recreation Department two weeks prior to the parade on a CD as well as emailed audio format. Performances are strictly limited to 2 minutes. Performances will not be authorized if they exceed the given time.
5. Political Campaigning- Blowing Rock neither endorses nor condones any candidate or elected officials’ platforms or views. If a candidate or official participates in the parade they do so as a member of the community or representative of the position in which they serve. The parade is a community event for entertainment and does not serve as a place to voice political views therefore we ask that all participants refrain from using the parade as a public forum for expressing their views either for or against political parties or individuals.
6. Animals are permitted in the parade pending prior approval by the Recreation Department. *Horse owners may be required to submit proof of a Coggin’s Test as well as proper Insurance. (General Liability: $1,000,000 Each Occurrence and $2,000,000 General Aggregate, Town must be named as an additional insured.)
7. The use of foul language or inappropriate behavior is prohibited. This is a family event and participants are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous manner. Accordingly, the use of drugs and/or alcohol by parade participants is strictly prohibited.
